"I brought in a Seiko that had been sitting stopped for two years. The team diagnosed the fault during the initial assessment and gave me a clear cost estimate before starting. The watch came back running accurately and the work summary was genuinely useful — not just a receipt."

"My grandmother's pocket watch had not run in decades. Gearhaven was honest from the start that sourcing the mainspring would take time — it took about five weeks in total. The result was worth it. The piece runs now, and it came back with a proper written account of everything done."

"Solid work. My watch was draining batteries every couple of weeks and they tracked it down to a coil fault. The turnaround was about eight days. Communication was good throughout. The price was on the higher end for this type of repair, but the documentation and thoroughness justify it."

"I was nervous about the lume refresh — the dial is original and I didn't want it to look 'restored.' They assessed it carefully and showed me what they were planning before starting. The result looks right. Not too bright, not uniform in a way that reads as new. Very pleased."

"I left an old pocket watch that belonged to my father. The team was clear it would take time, and they kept me informed when the parts sourcing ran longer than first estimated. At the end, it came back running and the written summary was detailed and easy to follow."

"Quick and correct. I had a watch where the second hand was stuttering. They found the fault in the circuit board during intake, quoted me, and had it done in six days. No surprises at collection. Good location too — easy to get to from the BTS."

Pocket Watch · 6 Weeks
A 1920s railroad pocket watch with broken mainspring
Challenge
A mainspring that had broken inside the barrel — a common failure in older pieces left wound for years. The case hinge was also loose, making the movement difficult to access safely.
Approach
Mainspring sourced from a specialist supplier in Japan over three weeks. The barrel was cleaned, the hinge worked without metal removal, and the movement lubricated throughout.
Outcome
The watch ran within normal amplitude range on the timing machine. The client received a written summary covering the barrel work, hinge, and lubricant types used.
"I thought it might be beyond saving. They were upfront that it was going to take time and it did — but it runs now."

A 1970s diver with degraded tritium markers
Challenge
Original tritium lume had deteriorated unevenly — some markers blank, others still present but crumbling. The owner wanted legibility improved without the watch looking over-restored.
Approach
Each marker assessed individually. Partially degraded patches were carefully removed. Period-appropriate material applied in quantities consistent with the intact remaining markers, to keep uniformity without looking fresh.
Outcome
Night-time legibility substantially improved. The dial retained its aged appearance and the new applications were consistent in colour and quantity with the surviving originals.
"They showed me what they were planning before any work started. That mattered to me. The result is exactly what I asked for."
Quartz Repair · 7 Days
A battery-drain fault on a Swiss quartz dress watch
Challenge
Batteries lasting three to four weeks instead of the usual twelve to eighteen months. Previous repairs at another workshop had not identified the cause.
Approach
Full circuit board assessment during intake. Found an intermittent short in the coil section. The coil was replaced with a compatible component sourced from workshop stock.
Outcome
Current draw tested at normal range on return. Battery life performing as expected at follow-up twelve weeks later. Client contacted us to report the watch was still running correctly.
"Two other places looked at it and couldn't find the problem. Gearhaven found it at the initial assessment."
